History - In the 1840’s David Hill founded East Tualatin Plains. After his death the town was renamed Hillsborough in his honor. The spelling was later simplified to Hillsboro. The first Post Office was established in 1850 and the town was officially incorporated in 1876. It was 1862 when John Ecles Murphy gathered a group of Christians to discuss the building of a church. A woman named Amanda Perkins had her house moved and a church building was erected on her property. The Church of Christ opened its doors in 1887, the name has since been changed to The Christian Church of Hillsboro, and the Church still stands today.
